At Truden Travel, we believe that travel is more than just visiting new destinations. It's about connecting with people, embracing new experiences, and exploring the world with respect and open minds. That's why we've created our Truden Travel Code, a set of guidelines for our community of travellers.
Why a Code of Conduct?
Our mission at Truden Travel is to create a genuine community where people cultivate lasting friendships and share a passion for exploration. Our Code of Conduct is designed to nurture this sense of community by emphasizing kindness, cultural sensitivity, and a spirit of understanding. We want everyone who travels with us to feel valued and have transformative experiences.
As a travel agent I've seen and heard it all. I had a client complain about how many Mexicans were at her favourite resort because she went to Puerto Vallarta during Cinco de Mayo. I've seen someone on our tour in the Galapagos repeatedly wander off the path into sensitive conservation areas to the point he was going to get banned from land excursions. I always am appalled at how much garbage I see tourists leave when I travel.
On the other side I've seen a tour group huddle in an archway in Italy because it started to pour. They met a local and were invited into the courtyard where his family made them a meal and they had a wonderful time eating and drinking local wines. No one was mad they missed the ticketed activity they were supposed to get to, because this experience was so unique and magical. I've had our guide in Japan recognize that the group was always on time, no one was ever late, so he felt he could add in a 30-minute stop to Himeji Castle, which wasn't a part of the itinerary. He knew the walking distance and that we would only have enough time to take pictures, but added it in when it wasn't supposed to be part of the tour.
I want to create tours that will inspire friendships to form, and develop into a travel club. That is why it is very important to me to create a code of conduct. It will protect future guests from having people return that are toxic to the enjoyment of the trip.
Key Elements of Our Code
Respect for All:Â Â We treat tour guides, bus drivers, hotel staff, local service providers, and fellow travellers with kindness and respect. We understand their roles are vital in creating a positive travel experience for everyone.
Cultural Sensitivity:Â Embracing new cultures is the heart of travel. We approach different customs, traditions, and ways of life with curiosity and an open mind, seeking to understand and learn from them.
Environmental Responsibility:Â Â We love our planet! We strive to minimize our impact on the environment, respecting natural areas, properly disposing of waste, and making conscious choices that support sustainability.
Travel with an Open Heart:Â Unexpected situations are a natural part of the travel experience. We embrace flexibility, patience, and a positive attitude even when things might not go exactly as planned. Sometimes the most magical moments happen when we deviate from the itinerary!
Community First:Â Building a community is what sets Truden Travel apart. We support each other, celebrate our diverse perspectives, and make space for everyone to have a wonderful experience.
Embracing the Unexpected: When it comes to travel, things may not go as planned. We embrace spontaneity and enjoy the moment, knowing that some of the best things in our travels, and in life, are beyond our control.
Beyond the Guidelines
The Truden Travel Code isn't just about rules, it's about fostering a mindset. We encourage all of our travellers to be ambassadors of kindness, respect, and curiosity wherever they go. When we travel with open hearts, we open ourselves to the most profound and life-changing experiences.
