Our Sicily/Malta Tour - A guest review

My most sincere thank you to Diana and Dan for joining our first tour, and for writing a review. It was a pleasure getting to spend these two weeks exploring with you.

Our recent trip to Sicily and Malta with Truden Travel was an unforgettable journey through history, culture, and stunning landscapes. Each destination offered unique experiences that made this adventure truly special. The promised tour theme of culture, food & festivals exceeded our expectations with the combination of the Couscous Festival in San Vito Lo Capo, the street food tours in Palermo, to the Notte Bianca Festival in Valletta, Malta. Overall, the experience was exceptional, and we highly recommend Truden Travel for anyone looking to explore beautiful destinations with a high-end flare.

Itinerary and Organization: The itinerary was well-planned, allowing us to experience the best of both Sicily and Malta without feeling rushed. From the vibrant markets of Palermo to the ancient ruins of Agrigento, every stop was thoughtfully chosen. In Valletta, we explored the breathtaking architecture and rich history, with ample time to wander and soak it all in. We even did a full-day excursion to the idyllic island of Gozo, sister isle to Malta.

Guides and Support: Our tour guides were knowledgeable and passionate about the regions we visited. They provided us with fascinating insights into the culture and history, making each location come alive. Additionally, our van driver Alfonzo was friendly and accommodating, ensuring our needs were met throughout the journey.

Accommodations: The hotels selected by Truden Travel were luxurious and well-located. In Sicily, we enjoyed being in the heart of the city in Palermo to the stunning views of the coastline in Taormina, while our stay in Valletta allowed us to easily explore the city’s attractions on foot as well as only being a 6 minute walk to swim in the beautiful Mediterranean Ocean.

Food and Experiences:

The rich history in Sicily is evident everywhere, from the ancient ruins of the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento to the vibrant streets of Palermo. The architecture is a beautiful blend of Greek, Roman, and Arab influences, creating a picturesque backdrop for exploration.

One of our highlights was visiting Mount Etna. The hike was invigorating, and standing on the edge of Europe’s most active volcano was awe-inspiring. The views from the top were breathtaking, showcasing the vast landscape of Sicily and the shimmering coastline.

We also really enjoyed the culinary experiences. We had the chance to taste authentic Sicilian dishes, from fresh seafood and delectable pastries to indulging in Michelin-starred dining!  We also enjoyed a hands-on Sicilian cooking class in Syracuse where we learned how to make Ravioli with a delicious tomato sauce from scratch. The wine tasting in Sicily was a delightful addition that allowed us to appreciate the local flavours even more.

After Sicily, we took a short ferry ride to Valletta, Malta’s capital. This charming city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it’s easy to see why. The narrow streets are lined with beautiful Baroque architecture, colourful balconies, and quaint cafes.  From relaxing in the warmth of the Mediterranean Sea to experiencing the Notte Bianca Festival – a celebration of art, music, and culture that transforms the city streets, Valletta was a highlight for us.

Overall Experience: Traveling with Truden Travel was a memorable experience. Lyle struck the perfect balance between organized tours and free time, allowing us to explore at our own pace while still benefiting from guided excursions. I returned home with a deeper appreciation for the culture and history of both Sicily and Malta.

If you’re considering a tour in these regions, I wholeheartedly recommend Truden Travel. Lyle’s attention to detail, knowledgeable guides, and fantastic itinerary made this trip truly unforgettable!
