International Couscous Festival

One of the most interesting stops on the Sicily-Malta trip will undoubtedly be the International Couscous Festival in San Vito Lo Capo.

This beautiful sea side town is well known for it's picturesque beaches and crystal clear waters. On top of that the region is known for it's Arab-Norman Architecture, including a fort within San Vito Lo Capo. It is because of the diverse history that it hosts the world famous International Couscous Festival.

Our group will spend the day here and will have time to explore some of the Arab-Norman buildings, seeing the architecture from different times, and different empires. We will have time to spend at this magnificent beach. Finally we will explore the culinary delights of the festival. The tickets include being able to taste up to 5 of the delicious creations from over 30 vendors. There will be music, and art on display and for purchase.

I've read that there are traditional dishes, but I'm so excited to try the new and special creations. I've seen things like couscous with lamb and rhubarb, or red shrimp grilled harissa, hummus, and wild fennel.

This year will be the 27th edition of this festival in San Vito Lo Capo. It started as a symbol of cultural integration. The mission is to unite distant worlds that are different from each other in the name of good food and fun. This is exactly the kind of cultural experience I think people need more of in todays divided world. We need to see cultures coming together and uniting in joy.

The event is topped off with wine tastings, cooking shows, cooking competitions, and performances from international artists.

I am so excited to share this wonderful experience with my guests at the very start of the tour to set the tone right.
